The Artistry Behind the Coin

Obverse: The classic portrait of George Washington, originally designed by John Flanagan in 1932, graces the obverse. The familiar profile has been modified for the State Quarter series, with the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "QUARTER DOLLAR," "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and the mint mark "P" elegantly arranged around Washington's dignified profile.

Reverse: Alabama's reverse design honors Helen Keller, the state's most famous native daughter, seated at a table with an open book, her fingers reading Braille. Her name appears in both standard lettering and Braille dots - a first for U.S. circulating coinage. A longleaf pine branch frames the left side, while a magnolia blossom adorns the right. The state motto "SPIRIT OF COURAGE" appears below, with "ALABAMA" and "1819" (the year of statehood) completing the design. The inscriptions "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "2003" frame the top of the design.

Why Collectors Choose This Roll

The 2003 Alabama State Quarter holds special significance as the first U.S. circulating coin to feature Braille, honoring Helen Keller's groundbreaking work in disability advocacy. A complete roll offers exceptional value compared to purchasing individual coins, while the original bank wrapping provides assurance of authenticity and consistent quality. Whether you're completing your 50 State Quarters collection, building a type set, or investing in modern U.S. coinage, this roll delivers both historical significance and numismatic appeal. The Gem Brilliant Uncirculated condition ensures each coin displays the crisp details and lustrous surfaces that serious collectors demand.
